Andover 2XI vs Wimbourne Wayfarers 2XI

Andover men’s 2nd XI hosted Wimborne Wayfarers 2nds in a match they desperately needed to win. A bare 11 players were available for Andover, however their opposition only had 9.

Andover started the game strongly, and put Wimborne under immense pressure. Andover were finally able to break through when Guy put them ahead. Wimborne were able to counter attack when they broke through the Andover midfield, but a combination of great defending by centre-back Ron and keeping by Will kept them out.

A positive team talk at half time motivated Andover to keep putting the pressure on Wimborne. Soon after the start of the 2nd half Stampy added a second goal. Soon after, Latter scored a cracking goal from the edge of the D. Andover continued to push for more goals as Wimborne began to struggle with fatigue. Both Stampy and Guy were able to add one more goal each before the end of the game, to complete a solid 5-0 victory for Andover. This win sees Andover move up to 10th in the league, with their next game away against bottom of the league Yately, they will be sure they can get 3 points again.
