Andover went into the final as underdogs after been drawn against a Winchester side several leagues above them.

Andover M2'S started well with their squad being made up of a mixture of Men's 2 , 3'S and a Vet and a number of the junior players experiencing their first cup final.
Andover held strong but were to concede their first goal to Winchester from a short comer which was cruelly deflected past the Andover keeper. At this point it would have been easy for the Andover sides heads to go down but they didn't and they kept playing their hockey and forced a number of short corners from which Guy Sleeman-Hiscock was to score and level the game.

At this point I think Winchester realised they had a game on their hands and Andover were there to compete. Winchester soon regained the lead and was to score one more to make it 3-1 before the break.

After the half time team talk the players returned pitch fired up and ready to go again now that they had realised this Winchester side was only made up of mere Mortals and were not as good as the Pre match hype. With about 10 mins gone Andover was awarded a P Flick which Guy Sleeman Hiscock converted. This closed the gap between the two teams to one unfortunately this had the undesired affect on Winchester and with Andover becoming tired and with a loss of shape Winchester showed their class and scored four goals to kill off the game.

A great team effort by all and lots of positives for next season as we look to put our league result behind us and rise to challenge as we re group for next year. Sorry couldn't name you all today but some great hockey played in spells.

Big thanks to Mark Frost for his efforts with the club over the years as he goes on his travels and to Sim who moves away with his family. Both playing their last game today.
