The Diamonds first game back in the Wessex Masters Division 1 was a disappointing affair with Andover producing their worst performance of the season and they never looked like beating their close rivals.
Two weeks earlier the Diamonds smashed five past Salisbury in the cup but without three key players, Andover struggled to keep possession & the Visitors dictated the pace for the majority of the game.
In a first half controlled by Salisbury, the opening goal came midway through the half when an uncharacteristic mistake by Rob Oostendorp gifted the Visitors a simple tap in.
Andover keeper David Rutherford was rightly named man of the match and made a string of excellent saves to keep Andover in the game and although the Diamonds threatened the Salisbury goal more in the second period they failed to create any real goal chances. Eventually Salisbury superior passing & movement opened up the Andover defence again and they scored a second goal to secure the points.
