Haslemere 6 Diamonds 3

Saturday saw Andover Diamonds travel to Haselmere hoping to put in an improved performance from the previous weeks disappointment.
The match started with Haselmere dominating the possession and they were soon leading when they scored a well taken penalty corner. Within 11 minutes Haselmere doubled their lead as their superior possession was rewarded.
Andover began to gain a foothold in the match as the midfield played higher up the pitch. This enabled Andover to turn over the ball easier and allowed Andover to look more threatening. As Andover enjoyed some good attacking play, they were soon rewarded as Richard Hoo deflected a quick Glyn Hacker pass past a flat footed Haselmere keeper into the bottom corner of the goal. 4 minutes later, another attack saw Hoo doubling his and Andovers tally and levelling the match by scoring a similar deflected goal.
10 minutes before half time, Haselmere regained the lead when a skilful move down the right wing created a close range shot which Andovers keeper Dave Rutherford unable to keep out.
Haselmere increased their lead 4 minutes into the second half when a wickedly deflected penalty corner gave Rutherford no chance to save.
Andover continued to create chances and were soon only 1 goal down when a quick break allowed Gary Holmes to pick out Hoo at the top of the D who completed his hat-trick as he fired the ball in over a stranded keeper.
Haselmere soon regained their 2 goal lead scoring from open play. As the match continued, Andover continued to create chances, but luck was not on their side. As the Andover players tired, Haselmere scored another penalty corner. The match finished 6-3 but a good performance gives Andover confidence for the visit of Petersfield next week.
