Andover were missing top goal scorers Mark Josling & Richard Romer-Lee which meant the home side initially struggled to piece together any penetrating attacks. When Andover did string some passes together they were able to cut open the visitors defence & midway through the opening half, a sweeping attack found John Priestley-Cooper in the far right of the circle. The Andover forward sent a perfect cross to find Richard Hoo who came in at the far post to push the ball home.

Minutes later Andover doubled their lead with the constantly impressive Andrew Thomson continuing his good goal scoring run with a well placed shot past a static keeper.

In an excellent period of play for the Diamonds they scored a third before the break, this time a beautiful pass from Haydn Jellard split the Bournemouth defence to find Mike Boyne who calmly beat the keeper & slipped the ball into the empty goal.

The second half was a bit messy from an Andover point of view with at least three “open goals” squandered by the home team with only Thomson adding to the Andover goals.

In the latter stages of the game, Bournemouth committed players forward creating several chances of their own and Andover keeper David Rutherford was called upon to make a number of crucial saves to ensure he got the clean sheet he deserved.
