U10s
The U10s made a good start to the season today, winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 3. We played some strong sides and were resolute in defence, especially against a talented Trojans A team, which they held to a goalless draw. We mixed things up by trying different children in different positions and were unlucky not to have an extra couple of goals based on a solid hit from midfield and an eager forward hanging about the goal like a bad smell.
There was still a lot of ball chasing but there were the green shoots of width and passing. Impressively, this was implemented from 16s, which was great to see and worked. Unfortunately, when faced with strong opposition, we lost our confidence in each other and opted for hitting down the middle instead of moving the ball. This is what we need to work on and shall form the basis of Sat morning sessions.
All in all, it was a great morning, epitomised by boundless enthusiasm, a great "back stick" goal (shh Matty, don't tell anyone!), some deft footballing skills (from all the teams) and lots of smiles. Well done.
