Andover 3 - 1 Sunbury & Walton Hawks

With the Squad returning to full strength bar the unfortunate injuries to Harry Trott and Mark Eggington who may be on the sideline for some time, Andover were hoping to give an undefeated opposition a tough encounter continuing to make John Hanson a venue teams did not look forward too.

Andover were looking to take control of the game early against a well organised opposition who were flying high in the league. With only a few minutes gone Andover were under pressure, Sunbury were pressing high up the pitch and forcing the midfield and defence into more and more mistakes. Slowly Andover got a foot hold in the match and began to grow in confidence giving James Pawley and Olly Bridge more time on the ball to create some flowing moves for the forward line to put the Sunbury defence under pressure. Oliver Woolf and Haydn Sorenson started to have more time on the ball allowing the wing backs to play higher up the pitch stretching the game even more. With the 1st half coming to an end Sunbury managed to work them selves a short corner resulting in Man of the Match Baverstock saving a drag flick which was heading for the top corner. Andover moved straight up the other end of the pitch and a quick self pass from Hayden Jenkins allowed him to find Allmark in the D unmarked who neatly first time deflect to O'Sullivan who fired home from close range to put Andover into the lead. Andover were looking to pounce on the pressure they had built towards the end of the half and with the next attack Allen was slipped a perfectly timed pass from out wide to hit first time in the far corner of the goal.

The second half started exactly how the first did with Sunbury dominating the possession. Andover's superb discipline was starting to be questioned with sloppy tackles and poor positional play. This allowed Sunbury back into the game with them claiming four short corners in a row, however the defence did not crumble as Frost and Goacher chased down each and every short corner. The pressure was slowly getting to much and in the 13th minute of the second half Andover's defence opened up allowing the opposition striker to score from close range. Sunbury thought that goal would allow them back into the game, however Andover had other ideas about this game and that was to make sure they claimed all 3 points. Some superb work from Ben Evans who was superb throughout the game, created space on the left hand side for Anthony to win a short corner, with skipper Pawley off the pitch Olly Bridge was left to control things from the top of the circle and that he did, a miss trap from himself gave him time to react and fire in a superb shot to the bottom corner and regain Andover's two goal advantage. This goal led to Andover's complete dominance over Sunbury and with the dominance came ill discipline from the opposition seeing them finish the game with 10 men after a deliberate break down of play.

Andover look to move higher up the league again with another full squad carrying their home form away to Camberley & Farnborough.
