Andover made to settle with a point against mid table rivals

Match report by Dan Allen

Andover traveled to an in-form Camberley side with high hopes of returning to winning
ways following last week’s home draw with Gillingham. Fielding a strong squad the game
started at a frantic pace.

Andover remained calm as Camberley push against the visitors famously stubborn defence.
An early short corner looked to put them ahead were it not for Woolf clearing off the line.
The frustrations started to show through on the home side and cards were awarded for
their poor behavior.

Andover capitalising breaking through the weakened defence to secure a short corner.
Anthony stepping up and selling the drag flick to everyone except the intended target of
Brooks on the right post who slotted home.

This lead to a sustained effort of Andover attack as the home side struggled to gain footing.
Andover doubling the lead when Scowan fed into Man of the Match Allen at the top D. The
resulting spin leaving both defenders and keeper bewildered as the ball rolled in at the far
post.

A harsh yellow for Daley set up a quiet end to the half as Andover calmly held the ball,
Hacker working hard through the middle to keep the ball away from the home side’s
numbers.

The second half saw Camberley increase their efforts and get back in the game. Scoring their
first from a well-placed aerial ball before a mix up between Woolf and Trott left a striker
free on the back post for an easy tap in.

Anthony and O’Sullivan came close to put the game out of reach but Camberley secured
their point from a slick short corner routine shortly before the close.

Coach Sordillo comments: “A frustrating second half but a lot of positives to take from
today. For the first half everything we’ve been working towards and training for came
together, when we develop that to a full game teams are going to start having a really bad
day against us.”

Andover host league strugglers Southampton aiming for revenge from their early cup exit
last month.
