Andover lost out at home to a surprisingly strong Fleet and Ewshot 2nd team on Sunday - but battled very well thoughout and the scoreline definitely did not match the performance.
The away team, perhaps fearing Andover's reputation, turned up with a team that was as strong as they have come up against this season. Despite that, Andover battled well and had held them to a single goal by half time with some great performances right across the defensive line.
At the start of the second half, Andover put together ten minutes of nearly flawless hockey, attacking with width and precision and were rewarded with 2 fine goals in quick succession from Harry Cowan and Rory Glover. Unfortunately the home side could not keep that level of intensity and some quality play by the opposition inflicted a heavy defeat that Andover's play did not deserve.
Well done boys, it's in playing hard games against good sides that we learn and improve. Take heart from your battling team performance!
