Andover travelled to Basingstoke on Sunday and, despite the loss of a number of players at the last minute, recorded a fine victory. The visiting side scored three goals and let in one in each half, to go into the Christmas break with a comfortable 6 - 2 win.
Despite scoring early on in the match, Andover started sluggishly and were off their game both positionally and technically which meant that the game deteriorated as a spectacle for a short period. After half time and with a refresher course of when to employ the basics skills and when to get more creative, Andover played much better and were unlucky not to score more.
The game was notable in that, with two goalkeepers available, both played in goal for a half and then had some time on the pitch. Incredibly, both Fred Walkom and Archie Stepney scored in what has to be a very rare occurrence. The other goals went to Hari Putt (2), Ben Thomson and Nick Torrington on his debut for the side.
Well done guys it's been a good first half of the season - have a great Christmas.
