Andover 2 - 3 v Southampton 3 - 0

Andover Ladies 2s came out all out guns blazing on Saturday against Southampton, catching them off guard with an early goal from a well worked short corner routine between Crack and Captain Prior with Prior sweeping the ball with vigour into the back of the goal.

Andover’s 2nd goal came just before half time with some excellent linking play up the right hand side of the pitch between Horne, Brewer and Kavanagh, with man of the match Kavanagh making a speedy run to the back line, drawing the keeper to her and forcing her to make a save. However, Brewer was, as always, ready for the rebound firing the ball up into the top of the net.

With Southampton riled and hungry for revenge, Andover knew that they would come out hard in the second half, but undeterred and holding on to their formation and determination they were no match for the away team and soon Crack’s awesome solo efforts paid off spectacularly when she weaved past 3 defenders and the goalkeeper to secure the team’s first win of the season.

The ladies now take forward that confidence to next week when they play Havant 3, who currently lie 4th in the league table.
