L3 1st Match Report

Andover Ladies 3rdXI started the new league season with a much changed line-up including both new players and junior members playing their first adult hockey. The team travelled to Yateley where they held the opposition to a goalless first half. Andover were the dominant team in attack and were unlucky to have a goal from a short corner disallowed. Fine play from Sedona Jamieson, Sally Prior and Sophia Kidd in midfield set up forwards Janette Griffiths-Jones, Charlotte King and Laura Green who narrowly missed scoring on several occasions. The second half saw Andover concede two goals in quick succession despite hard work by defenders Amie Bridge and Simone Pollard. Andover were still able to counter attack with Jamieson showing great pace to tear apart the Yately defence. Rosie Kavanagh also showed good potential and skill in midfield. As tired legs set in, Yately were able to score twice from short corners but Imogen Collins running out kept the pressure on and Emma Goacher made a fine save on the line. U14 player Charlotte Payne made her debut in goal and made some good saves. This was a good start for the side and if they can maintain momentum in the second half of matches success should follow .
