Sometimes you get the feeling in the opening moments of a game that it is going to be your day. Right from the off Andover were on it! Quick passing and options from both sides of the pitch meant that Andover created lots of chances. Sharon and Carley effectively held up the ball to allow the midfield to run riot in Southampton’s D. Andover couldn’t capitalise on their pressure, and were unlucky not to be ahead at half time when a goal from Sharon was disallowed under dubious circumstances. The second half continued in the same vane. Nomes and Rhea laid siege to the Southampton goal. Andover’s opening goal came from a penalty corner , smashed in by Captain Sammy. Carley and Sammy took two further chances, once from another corner and one from open play. Southampton never looked likely to score allowing the defence of Aimee and Liz to attack, whilst Suzy stood resolute to keep their second clean sheet in a row. On the whistle Andover won a final penalty corner, Sharon picked up the loose ball and flicked it past the keeper, SHAZAM! 4-0 score line and a very happy team.
