On a sunny Sunday morning, with bitterly cold Siberian winds gusting across the pitch , the scene was set for a nail biter of a contest as the top two teams in the league squared up to do battle. Andover, riding high at the top of the league and on an unbeaten record were determined to show what they were made of.

Both sides came out with the bit between their teeth, which saw the play going from end to end but very messy with multiple players challenging for the ball and neither side being able to make any real dent on the other. A quick pep talk at the end of the first quarter and the Andover girls started to regain their formation and confidence. Much to the relief of the Andover spectators Liv managed to beat the Basingstoke keeper giving us the vital lead and a critical boost to confidence.

The second half saw some great team work and unselfish passing, showing how well the girls are now able to spot the open players and to get themselves in the right positions to get the ball. The defence put in a very solid performance keeping a never ending series of challenging attacks from resulting in a goal. Nerves were kept jangling right up until late in the final quarter when Polly sealed the Match with a great shot from a short corner.

Overall a really exciting and level sided challenge that gave the team the stage to really shine and bring some well need warmth to the Andover spectators. Well done girls - we are all really proud of how well you all played today.
