Andover u12’s hosted Salisbury on Sunday for their second match of the season and after an encouraging performance last time out against Southampton, the boys were raring to go.
The sun greeted a very fast start from Andover and some slick passing in midfield between Rory Glover, Harry Cowan and Ben Thomson released the attacking trio of Jack Phillips, William Taverner and Alex Birmingham. Two goals were scored past the Salisbury defence by the attacking three and a third was unfortunately ruled out.
Back came Salisbury though and a measured counter attack resulted in a brace of short corners which yielded a single goal. As time wore on the Salisbury side began to exert more pressure on the home side, but stout defence from Will Taylor, Freddie Walkom, Thomas Milton, Pip Watson and Joshua Taylor kept them at bay for almost the whole game. Salisbury scored a deserved equaliser just as the game was finishing which left the honours even on two sides that showed some fine skill and great determination.
