Andover u12s came up against a strong and stylish Bournemouth side at the weekend and despite narrowly losing to an unlucky decision on a penalty corner goal, they can take many positives into their next match.
Having just watched the Ladies Vets pick up a win against Woking, the u12 boys were clearly inspired and were not overawed by the technical Bournemouth side. The watching crowd were treated to a spectacle of quick Bournemouth attacking moves and equally solid and calm Andover defence where time and again well timed tackles and sensible passing from the midfield disrupted the away side.
At the other end attacking moves were thin on the ground in the first period of the game but the Andover attacks became increasingly effective as the superior fitness of the home side told in the latter stages. The game was decided by a penalty corner that on another day may have been awarded the other way, but Andover can take great heart from the way that they kept fighting right to the end, going close with a number of chances which had Bournemouth praying for the final whistle.
