U12 Boys

On what was probably the coldest and most miserable match day of the season (weather wise) the boys turned out to play the Trojans who were several positions above us in the league and had beaten us 3-1 in our previous encounter. Right from the start both teams set out to show what they were capable of, with play moving back and forth from end to end with neither side giving quarter.

At the end of the first quarter both teams were evenly matched and it was impossible to predict who would win. Following the short break the Andover boys came out with a new determination and shifted up a gear. A break from the Andover 23m line saw William Taverner stylishly drive the ball in to the back of the Trojan's nets, but celebrations were cut short as the paly was called back for a call for a foot that had gone unheard.

Not to be deterred, and in what was almost a carbon copy, Trojan's players player William Taverner once again broke out from the 23, having been back in support, and drove down the right hand wing in a 70m dash and slotted the ball in to the back of the Trojan's net. The game was heating up with first blood to Andover, but The Trojans were not going to roll over and built attack after attack to test the Andover defence, which stood solid with an outstanding performance from George (omnipresent) Goodridge playing in the mid field backed by great performances from the solid team of backs.

The Andover supports were desperate for the relief of a second goal to help lift the pressure and lessen the stress and in the 3rd quarter they were rewarded following a brilliant joint effort from the forwards seeing the ball bounce off the keepers pads to an awaiting Xavier Cash who managed to drag the ball across the line. The final quarter saw Andover increasing the pressure on the Trojan D with several chances going narrowly wide or stylishly saved by the Trojan keeper, but Andover were rewarded from a lovely touch from Xavier on a well crossed ball seeing it deflect in to the corner of the Trojan net.

All in all it was another great performance from the boys with everyone pulling together in a joint effort that saw solid and skilful play from the front through to the back. Well done boys - that was a very well earned and well worked victory.
