Andover went away to Camberley and Farnborough on Sunday, and, in the cold and wet, produced a performance that their coaches were proud of.
This was a great team performance from front to back, a characteristic of the Andover play in recent weeks has been the pressing of the opposition right across the pitch. That was in evidence again today and the back line of Archie Stepney, Henry Wolfe-Barry, Pip Watson, Rory Ethelston, Hari Putt and Jake Chadd didn't allow the opposition a sniff of a chance on goal. In midfield, Rory Glover, Ben Thomson and Joshua Taylor disrupted opposition possession and spread the ball wide to spring Andover attacks. Up front, Harry Cowan, Xavier Cash, Peter Thomson and Alex Birmingham linked well and supported each other to create numerous opportunities.
In the end Ben Thomson score two and Alex Birmingham scored five, but probably most significantly, there were distinct signs of the Andover coaches getting a bit misty around the eyes as some of the Saturday drills were used in anger in the match!
