The u12 boys travelled to league leaders Alton on Sunday and eventually lost out 4 - 1. The score line did not tell the whole tale though and Andover were in this game for long periods. In defence, there were some fine performances, particularly from goalkeeper Archie Stepney, who thwarted the opposition attack on numerous occasions.
There were also strong performances in midfield and attack where Harry Cowan, Ben Thomson and Xavier Cash were tireless with their running throughout the game. Joshua Taylor produced one of his strongest performances of the season just when his team needed him and was ever present all of the pitch.
In the end, despite numerous chances, the opposition defence held out and only Xavier made it onto the scoresheet - and to add insult to the painful William Taverner knee injury, Alton scored two late goals near the end to leave the scoreline flattering the home side. This was a match that was played in good spirit throughout and both teams will take away many positives from the last match of the season.
Well done the u12 boys for a great season finishing 4th, have a great summer and see you next season.
