We travelled away to Salisbury who have been well up in the table all season, and haven't lost a single fixture this season with anxiety about our own performances; there was no need for the nerves!
The boys took well to their roles, and managed to work together in a stunning team performance. Linked up passages of play around the middle with Peter and George holding the centre of the pitch well, linking some well threaded passes to some beautifully timed leading balls. They were augmented by strong play from both Edward P on the right, and by Ethan D on the left. Some glittering runs from Felix and some selfless supporting play from Guy led to the former getting a well-earned hat-trick, and cementing his position as our most threatening forward!
The positional play held well through the substitutions in the middle of the park - Alfie and Daniel on the left kept the play running through the middle period of the match, with Alfie as solid as ever, and Daniel learning fast at his second game.
The defence was solid throughout - there were only a couple of occasions where the Salisbury attack seemed to threaten. William was solid in the centre back position - with some composed play. Sam Putt and James H-M were as reliable as ever, no matter which side I played them on, with some well timed, and well judged tackles. Edward W held the gap in the middle to make sure that the midfield diamond had a regular supply of usable balls, and Tom made a marvellous debut performance for the team. Oscar kept a clean sheet with a few decent saves, and an ever-improving presence in front of goal.
All in, a marvellous performance from the boys - who've proved that they can stop anyone when they work together. Bournemouth next week - the new top of the table - last time we were so close...
This time we will have them! Come on boys!
