Andover 3's faced a Wimbourne side which had no dedicated goal keeper which allowed them to play 11 strong out field players. Andover started quite brightly and played some good hockey in a short spell for about 10 minutes but soon began to struggle with the extra out field player as Wimbourne continued to press high up the pitch. Wimbourne forced several short corners one of which was to prove to much for Pete Lawrence as he scored his second goal of the season after some good defending prior to this. Andover had several chances of their own but the lure of a keeper less net seemed to cause a lack of composure and discipline in the D and they did not take their chances At the break the a red faced Andover went in 1 nil down.
Second half started off in the same way with Wimborne pressing and not allowing Andover to play. It was not until late in the second half that Andover managed to clear their lines and put together an attack which resulted in Alfie Morgan scoring his first goal of the season. Andover seemed to get a lift from this and finished the game quite strong but were still very lucky to come away with a point and to stay fourth in the table.
Man of the Match Jonah Graham stood out amongst his team mates and kept going in what was a very frustrating game.
Special thanks to umpires Tim May and Harry Trott kept control of quite difficult opposition.
