Andover 3's hosted Gosport on a bright but cold day at John Hanson. Andover were sporting a new formation and got off to a promising start again playing some very good hockey making some good chances with Gosport having very little opportunity to trouble the Andover back three. Again this week it was a case of deja vu with Gosport scoring against the run of play and defender Pete Lawrence feeling he had been impaired in the D. Gosport held on and went in at half time 1 nil up.
The second half started well for Andover and they were awarded a P flick after a strong run by Charlie Scowen into the D which was ended with a rash tackle from the Gosport defender. Captain Matt Hodgson calmly stepped up to convert the flick. Andover continued to press to look for the winner but again after dominating the play they conceded another soft goal as they failed to clear their lines. Andover then had a string of short corners but could not get any reward from these. It was not until about 2 minutes from time that the break through was made with Charlie Scowen scoring to level the score.
Great character shown by the team with U16 Liam Anderson making his debut and a good all round team performance and work ethic. M.o.M Liam Kavanagh just does not stop running and superb blocking at short corners.
Thanks to Fred for umpiring and keeping the game flowing.
