Andover Men's 3's travelled to Yateley for their last league game before the Christmas break knowing a win would secure fourth spot until their return in the new year.
The game got off good start with Andover controlling a lot of the possession in the early stages and playing some very good passing hockey. It was not long until the break through came when a ball was passed to Mike Boyne in the D and he calmly fired the ball home. Andover continued press but even when Yateley did attack Andover looked very solid at the back and they had very few chances. Just before the break for half time Andover got their second with Tom Lee scrambling the ball in over the line. Taking his tally to three for the season.
Andover came out in the second half and continued to dominate play moving the ball around well. The older heads on the pitch complimenting the younger and up and coming stars for the future. Again it was Boyne who added to his goal tally mid way in to the second half to put Andover into a comfortable lead. Andover continued to press and it was not long before Boyne completed his hat trick . As Andover pushed up they did conceed a late well taken goal probably Yateley best move of the match.
Big thanks to the Vets who helped out today as we only had a squad of nine at the start of the week. We can now look to the new year and build on what we have and perhaps chase promotion.
M.o.M Oli Godman another solid defensive performance.
