Bakers Dozen as Andover cook up a goal fest!

Andover travelled to Gosport knowing a win would secure third spot as they continued to push for the runners up position.

Andover got off to the best possible start with Matt Hodgson playing like two men or so his shirt would suggest opening the scoring after 5 minutes. This then opened the flood gates with Andover scoring a further 5 goals before half time. Goals coming from Mr Greedy Rob Eldridge 2 Alfie Morgan 1 sporting his girl friends leggings Mr Tumbles Tom Lee 1 Impact sub Russ Hemming 1.

On the rare occasion Gosport did break the Andover lines everything was calmly cleared up by the back three of Lawrence, Bevans and Kavanagh. As they looked to help give Jack Topllis his first clean sheet of the season.

The back and the front of the team was held together by a hard working midfield of Richards , Hodgson ,Graham and Thompson. Andy Thompson being the Man that stood out in the team for his relentless running passing and moving AKA the Machine was awarded the Man of the match. This Midfield was well supported by Liam Andrews in his first season of Adult hockey with his 1st assist.

Second half started in the same manor with a further 7 goals being scored only one scare when Topliss decided to lie down a bit early probably through boredom but the hulk and Kavanagh came to his rescue to clear the ball from the line. The goals came from Rob Eldrige 4 still suffering with a hearing complaint when in the D much to the disgust of Mr Tumbles as race hots up for top scorer Tom lee adding 1 further goal to his tally.Next to score was Sam Richards 1 never was a man so desperate to score a goal he threw himself at the opposition but his goal got the biggest cheer of the day and he also cleared the pitch of sand with one of his swings. The spectators were issued goggles after this event. Jonah Graham 1 then got his first goal in adult hockey luckily Mr Greedy didn't claim it but he was sniffing about.

On a day which we got there hour and half too early Pete exposed himself to a bunch of young sea cadets due to a lack of changing rooms Hodgy was the last man to pick a shirt and ended up in a dress. Sam took his D.o.D award reasonably well. We played our best Hockey this season which is a credit to the club and everyone who has supported the team this season.
