Home Defeat for Andover III

Andover III's first home game of the season was made difficult before it'd even begun with player availability lacking across the club. However, they were able to field a team in the end albeit with most players playing in unfamiliar positions! The thirds started well, showing a lot of the promise they'd shown last week despite missing key players. Only a few minutes into the match Adam Boyne set Matt Hodgson up for a what's becoming something of a trademark finish- a powerful strike from the edge of the D deflected off a hapless keeper. The lead didn't last long though as Romsey carved their way through into Andover's D and neatly evened the score. Half-time had the teams tied.
The second half saw Andover produce a few more half-chances as they pressed on but it was not enough - clinical Romsey continued to exploit the gaps and punish them leading to a flattering scoreline which undermined the relative closeness of the game. Andover put in a great physical effort for the whole game but man of the match Ed Hall deserves particular credit for having played well in multiple positions throughout the match as he stepped in to relieve the injured.
Having played with an unfamiliar line-up Andover can put this result behind them and look to build on the good start they made against Trojans in the next match.
