Andover III came into the game knowing a win was crucial to their chances of staying up against rival strugglers Woking. Andover certainly played with maximum desire, creating chance after chance including a run of several short corners, but they could not find the net. The occasion certainly got to both teams with tempers flaring on a few occasions and both teams seeing cards. The second half saw an increasingly direct Andover attacking in numbers, again creating chances but failing to take them. The game became more and more open with both teams going for the win. However, Andover's solid defence never looked like conceeding with keeper and man of the match Sam Toth always on the front foot whenever Woking broke through. After impressing in last week's friendly, youngster Oliver Godman put in another sterling, defensive performance proving a constant frustration to Woking's attack.
This was a game which had everything but a goal. The result leaves Andover in a precarious position with rivals Southampton Uni winning their game. However, Andover remain 3 points away from 8th placed Tadley with the two sides still to meet before the end of the season - a lucky break that they really can't afford to let slip.
