Andover started the first league match of the season at pace, combining some excellent passing play on the counter attack. Brewer was unlucky not to take the lead with her fierce shot deflected wide of the goal. Later Cuff was also denied by the acrobatics of the Havant keeper, with a diving save to push away a short corner flick heading into the top right of the goal.

As the half progressed the experienced Havant team began to take control and Andover found themselves under more pressure. After defending several short corners Andover finally succumbed to the Havant pressure. Another short corner saw the initial shot saved by the plucky Andover keeper Dana Shelley, who despite nursing an injury continued to throw herself into the line of fire, the deflection fell kindly for Havant with a simple tap to score.

The 2nd half continued in a similar manner, with Andover defending for much of the game, but on the break Andover always looking dangerous with Rosie Kavanagh making some great runs from the right midfield.

Despite a strong and committed defensive performance Havant were awarded their 2nd goal when a short corner was again saved only to be slotted in by the incoming Havant player.

Later in the half Andover began to press again, looking to pull something back from the game. The game was stretched and the work rate from the Andover squad never relented. However late in the game it was Havant again who were able to finish the game off with a well worked goal.

The Andover II Ladies squad has seen a number of changes again this season, despite the result they should be proud of their performance. Plenty of positives can be taken from the match, not least the ability, work rate and character of every individual player on the pitch.
