Andover started the game with some great passing play, with newcomers Bronte Lorimer, Georgina Maycock, Libby West and Immy Hammer fitting in well. Bronte Lorimer worked tirelessly in the centre of the pitch, chasing everything down, and making plenty of moves to make herself available to receive the ball.
Andover were rewarded with a goal half way through the first half following some good passing attacking play, captain Sally Prior received the ball in a wide left position in the oppositions D and powered a fierce shot at goal. The keeper saved and the deflection was quickly picked up by Rosie Kavanagh who swept the ball back across goal for Immy Hammer to calmly push it past the keeper.
As the half progressed Andover began to tire on a very hot day and without subs. They held firm with some strong defending and several excellent saves from Dana Shelly, but couldn't quite hold the opposition off before half time with them scoring an equaliser.
Waterside came out stronger in the 2nd half and were quick to score from a goal mouth scramble. Despite the fantastic work rate of the Andover team they could not quite find the passing form of the 1st half, and as the half progressed they conceded a further 3 goals in a short space of time. The team continued to work tirelessly and as the game became more stretched they started to mount some great counter attacking moves, and were unlucky not to score late in the game with Louise Cuff shooting just wide from close range.
Newcomer Georgina Maycock was deservedly named player of the match after putting in an accomplished performance at left back.
