Parents and supporters were thoroughly entertained with a 5 goal thriller when U16 boys travelled to King's School to take on Winchester U16 Boys 2nds.

With both sides fielding teams of 14 players the pace of the game was always going to be high. Andover got off to a good start when Ed Hall followed up a blocked shot to smash the ball high into the roof of the goal. Both teams demonstrated their attacking prowess but it was Winchester who came closest to drawing level. A short corner strike beat Will Hemming in the Andover goal but not the upright and although the ball back along the goal-line it was scrambled away to safety.

Andover's midfield of Charlie Latter, Sim Evans and Jack Fish were a constant threat and provided the forwards with some good opportunities. With a little more composure in front of goal both Alfie Morgan and Robert Isaac could have extended the Andover lead but shortly before half time Winchester restored parity with a well-taken finish.

The second half started exactly as the the first half with both teams keen to get the next goal. Winchester had the better of the possession and they created many opportunities that fortunately for Andover their forwards could not take advantage of. Andover eventually got their noses in front when Alfie Morgan slotted home. With the home side searching for an equaliser Andover found space in midfield and up front and they were unlucky not to increase their lead when Olly Hall and Robert Isaac both hit the uprights.

With just 3 minutes remaining Winchester drew level. A ball into the D was not cleared properly and the Winchester forward was able to poke home from close range. However, Andover were not to be denied a victory and just 1 minute later secured the points when Charlie Scowen calmly finished from a tight angle.
